老歌亂談(938)Carmelita
此曲為美國歌手兼詞曲作家Warren Zevon所寫，首由加拿大歌手Murray McLauchian錄唱並收錄在1972發行與自己同名的專輯內。而Zevon自己則是在1976錄唱，也同樣是收錄在與自己同名的專輯中。
Warren Zevon出道初期是參與Everly Brothers ( 艾佛利兄弟二重唱 ) 的巡演，擔任鍵盤手與樂隊領班，而艾佛利倆兄弟在1973鬧單飛拆夥，Zevon也不得不開始面對自己的音樂事業，但由於缺少資金，也搞不出個什麼名堂來，在西班牙混了一陣子後又回到了加州。此時，Zevon的貴人Jackson Browne出現了，由於Browne的引薦，當紅鄉村女歌手Linda Ronstadt唱了好幾首Zevon所寫的歌，其中一首《Hasten Down the Wind》，Ronstadt後來發行同名的專輯，甚至在1977還贏得了一座「最佳流行女歌手」的葛萊美獎，Zevon的名氣當然也跟著水漲船高。此首《Carmelita》也是因為Ronstadt的翻唱，才廣為流行開來。而Ronstadt將歌詞中I pawned ( 典當 ) my Smith Corona ( 打字機 ) 改成了Smith and Wesson ( 手槍 )，讓歌曲的主角呈現出完全不同的形象。

Carmelita ( 卡梅莉塔 ) 顯然是位女性的名字，在歌曲中看似為主角在墨西哥城市Ensenada的女友，而也有人認為Carmelita或也就是毒品的隱喻。這是一首關於「毒品」的歌。聽得出來，主角知道吸食毒品已讓自己沉淪，也有相當的悔意。應該將之視為是一首「警世」的歌曲，毒品可千萬不能碰啊！
