老歌亂談(697)Valley Of Tears
埃及和敘利亞為了奪回在1967的「六日戰爭」中，被以色列所佔領的西奈半島和戈蘭高地的土地，在1973對以色列發動「贖罪日戰爭」( 10/06─10/26，後續又有其他阿拉伯國家加入，又稱第四次中東戰爭、齋月戰爭、十月戰爭。)。當時在戈蘭高地，以色列最初以不到200輛的坦克迎戰敘利亞約1400輛坦克，而最後敘利亞仍失敗退回。此區域的戰場，後被稱之為「Valley of Tears」。

而此首《Valley Of Tears》卻是美國黑人歌手Fats Domino ( 胖子‧多明諾 ) 在更早的1957自寫的暢銷曲，於流行榜獲得第8名。不過，Domino最為知名的，應該還是在1956翻唱的《Blueberry Hill》，唱片大賣超過了5百萬張，連俄羅斯總統「普丁」都曾當眾演唱過。

2005，Fats Domino居住的紐奧良遭受卡崔娜颶風的侵襲，Domino一度失聯而被認為遇難 ( 其實他已被海岸巡防隊的直昇機救起 )，雖然大難未死，唯家當幾乎都流失了。隔年的2006，美國小布希總統赴紐奧良私下會見了Domino，並重發了一枚之前在克林頓總統時期就頒給Domino的「國家藝術獎章 (National Medal of Arts)」。而美國唱片工業協會(RIAA)和Capitol唱片公司也重發了一張「金唱片」給Domino。

Buddy Holly是美國搖滾樂的傳奇人物，才正當紅，卻在22歲英年與另兩位歌手同死於空難意外。在Don McLean的《American Pie》歌詞中，此意外事件成為眾所周知的「The Day the Music Died」。保羅安卡在Holly死前曾寫了首《It Does'nt Matter Anymore》給他，事後為此懊悔不已。披頭合唱團的John Lennon也頗喜歡唱Buddy Holly的歌，包含有《Mailman Bring Me No More Blues》等。
