父親節繪本閱讀(上)
這個星期主題課程要做父親節，
我又把書櫃裡的書瀏覽一遍，
找出幾本應景的繪本帶進教室。
(一) Sam's Snowflake
It's Christmas Eve!
The presents are wrapped,
the house is decorated and Sam's
stocking is hanging on the end of
his bed. But where is Dad?
Will Sam's secret plan help Dad to find
his way out of the forest and home for
Christmas morning?
我喜歡這本書的切入方向，記得小時候在
課文中唸過這麼一段 " 天這麼黑，風這麼大，
爸爸捕魚去，為什麼還不回家? " 四句話就把
孩子擔憂爸爸的心情完全表達出來，但這本書
更勝一籌， 書中不但把小熊Sam 擔心爸爸
因為大雪找不到路的心情描寫出來，還讓Sam
做一朵大雪花掛在窗台上。 " If I put this
in the window, the snow will find our
house," Sam said happily. " And so will
Dad," he whispered.
真是貼心懂事的熊寶貝， 於是當我讀到熊爸爸
回家後對Sam 說的話，
" Thank you for guiding me home, son."
真的忍不住也想加入牠們熊抱的行列。
這是本走溫馨路線的繪本，不僅適合父親節時閱讀，
也可在聖誕節時再拿出來複習喔!
(二) Ten, Nine, Eight
Bedtime! A happy game to lure
the most persistent sleep evader.
A warm and reassuring countdown
to the land of dreams.
這本書並不直接描寫父女之間的情感，
卻是用倒數的數字，旁敲側擊的方式
一句一句描寫出剛洗完澡的小女孩，
在寵物貓和絨毛玩具以及爸爸充滿耐心的
陪伴下，逐漸蘊釀出濃濃睡意。
三個親吻和一個結實熊抱是睡前儀式，
愛是夢鄉柔軟的床墊，又是一本溫馨佳作，
此書曾獲得凱迪克銀牌獎，其中蘊含的情味
值得珍藏細細品味。
(三) Owl Moon
It was late one winter night,
long past my bedtime,
when Pa and I went owling.
There was no wind.
The trees stood still as giant statues.
And the moon was so bright
the sky seemed to shine.
Somewhere behind us
a train whistle blew,
long and low,
like a sad, sad song.
I could hear it
through the woolen cap
Pa had pulled down
over my ears.
A farm dog answered the train,
and then a second dog
joined in.
They san out,
trains and dogs,
for a real long time.
And when their voices
faded away
it was as quiet as a dream.
We walked on toward the woods,
Pa and I.
Owl Moon 是我讀過的繪本中，
個人覺得文字特別優美的作品。
全篇故事中的遣詞用字不艱澀，
但讀起來有詩的意境有夢的朦朧，
極為動人 ； 插畫也是上乘之作，
動物禽鳥的筆觸細膩到像生物描寫誌，
雪地全景也讓人有天寬地闊之感，很有氣勢。
若孩子從小有繪本經驗，這本書很適合
程度高的孩子當作詩文般朗讀，
非常有質感的繪本，值得一讀再讀。
