此曲為美國黑人搖滾歌手Chuck Berry ( 1926~2017)自寫自唱，單曲在1958獲得告示牌熱門榜的第2名，也是Berry所有歌曲中成績次佳者 ( 僅次於1972的《My Ding-A-Ling》)。

在台長的心目中，西洋熱門音樂的第一人當非英國披頭合唱團的John Lennon莫屬，而Lennon所推崇的偶像，則又是這位Berry老兄。Chuck Berry的冠軍歌曲，也僅前述的一首而已，但他的《Johnny B Goode》獲NASA選為在1977向外太空發射的航海家太空船的時空膠囊中金唱片的曲目之一( 代表人類的聲音之一 )，也等於是給了Berry極大的榮耀。

想來是John Lennon的關係，披頭合唱團在1963也翻唱此曲，但直到1994才正式發行。Lennon自己則是在披頭解散三年的1975後，個人錄製了此曲的版本，製作人為Phil Spector，且將節奏放得較緩。

美國海濱少年合唱團 ( The Beach Boys ) 在1963推出了一首《Surfin' USA》，在排行榜的成績為第3，也可算是該團的成名曲，但該曲的曲調卻是套用此首《Sweet Little Sixteen》，之後仍然是難逃賠償著作權費的命運。
