此曲為有「King of Western Swing」稱號的Bob Wills與父親及兄弟所合寫，歌曲的旋律取材於1856的民謠《Darling Nelly Gray》。1950，Bob Wills 與他的樂隊 the Texas Playboy發行了此首《Faded Love》，在當年的鄉村榜獲得第8名，也成為了Bob Wills的招牌歌。( 註：Western Swing為小提琴的一種演奏形式。)

歌曲好聽，自是不乏大牌歌手翻唱。其中成績最佳的是Patsy Cline，Cline於1963因空難意外身亡，其版本至1967才發行，在鄉村榜得到第7名。其他如貓王Elvis Presley、Tammy Wynette、Jackie DeShannon、Ray Price and Willie Nelson等，在YouTube上均可找到其各自的版本，有趣的是，每位歌手的唱法或是節奏都不太一樣。以下所貼是Conway Twitty與「礦工的女兒」Loretta Lynn的合唱版。

這是一首情傷的歌曲，歌名來自歌詞中的「I remember our faded love」，faded有「退色」的意思，「退色的愛」感覺只是感情變質，似乎未到「完全分手」的地步，但由歌詞，顯然已是一段「逝去的愛」。感情事無法勉強，而緣份有時也會回頭，誰又知道呢？
