此曲於1954由男女雙人組合Willy & Ruth首錄發行，獲得了告示牌雜誌的評論聚焦，很快地，有七、八位歌手或組合翻唱，其中多數在商業交易時都得到好評，但卻未有任一版本成為暢銷曲。

1956，貓王Elvis Presley發行了第2張個人專輯《Elvis》，其中收錄了此曲的翻唱版，而為了避免與他的另一首《Love Me Tender》混淆，此首《Love Me》並未另發行單曲，但奇妙的是，《Love Me》仍打進告示牌top 100排行榜，且躍登亞軍位置 (《Love Me Tender》則是告示牌和錢櫃排行榜的雙料冠軍 )。

「滾石雜誌」在2008所出版「歷年來100位最偉大的歌手」的刊物中，齊柏林飛船樂團 ( led Zeppelin ) 的Robert Plant回憶於1974和貓王Elvis一起唱歌的事。當時Zeppelin與Elvis在演唱會遇到，結束後Zeppelin的Jimmy Page開玩笑地對Elvis說：我們從未對/校過音 ( soundchecked ) 哩！若是要做，我想唱你的歌。Elvis覺得有趣問Robert說想唱何首歌？Robert就點了這首《Love Me》，結果大夥兒一起歡唱了近90分鐘。

Cher 和Gregg Allman於1975結婚，以下所貼版本，收錄於倆人1977的專輯《Two the Hard Way》中。Gregg Allman曾和哥哥組成The Allman Brothers樂團，但相較於Cher和之前的老公所組的Sonny & Cher，在名氣上是差了一截，或許是受不了Gregg老兄的酗酒和嗑藥，Cher在1979與Gregg離婚。對Gregg來說，這是第3次的婚姻失敗，卻也愈挫愈勇，至2017過世 ( 67歲 )，共計結過7次婚，最後一任的未婚妻Shannon Williams ( 2011 – 2017 )，年紀和Gregg竟然差了有40歲。Cher離開Gregg後雖未再婚，卻也桃花不斷，榜上有名的就有10來位，其中還包含了Tom Cruise ( 1985 – 1986 )。
