2021，美國鄉村歌手Alan Jackson發行了他的第21張專輯《Where Have You Gone》，專輯的成績甚佳，除了獲得AllMusic樂評的好評，在英、美的鄉村專輯排行榜分別得到第1、2名。此首《The Older I Get》亦收錄於該專輯中，但此曲前於2017已先以單曲發行，卻無緣入榜，恐大出Alan和唱片公司的預期。一首不錯聽的歌，遭到如此下場，頗令人不解。

Alan Jackson於1983 ( 25歲 ) 出道，算一算至今也唱了近40年，Alan在台灣的話也到了可搭乘「老人票」的年紀，由他來詮釋此曲不僅具說服力，且感覺歌喉經由歲月的洗鍊，益發的深厚、沉穩。歌詞中：Funny how it feels I'm just getting to my best years yet，對於進入老年的生活是否是best year，此點恐未便認同 ( 以台長而言，應該比不上年輕時「意氣風發」的那些日子吧！)，但可確定的是，老年的生活較能隨心所欲、輕鬆且自在。

此曲並非「老歌」，而是「老人歌」。呵呵呵！
