Solomon Burke不僅是位歌手同時也是位牧師。但這位老兄剛開始時可不太好搞，他的專任製作人Bert Berns ( 也是亂談629寫《Here Comes The Night》的那位先生 )，先後拿了《Hang on Sloopy》和《A Little Bit of Soap》給他，但都被打槍 ( 該兩首歌稍後分別被The McCoys和The Jarmels兩樂團給唱紅 )，此不僅惹毛了Bert Berns，連唱片公司的合夥人兼製作人Jerry Wexler都出面警告Burke：『這首《Cry to Me》可是你最後的機會了，因為連我也被你惹毛了。』沒想到Burke在聽試唱時還是抱怨節奏太慢，最後是請錄音工程師將節奏加快才完成。

此曲於1962發行後，在節奏藍調排行榜獲得第5名 ( 流行榜為 #44 )，是Burke第二首的入榜歌曲。翻唱此曲的歌手眾多，較知名的有女歌手Betty Harris和Precious Wilson，及英國樂團The Pretty Things與The Rolling Stones。

Solomon Burke應該是位歌藝還不錯的歌手。1963，在排行榜上和Wilson Pickett對打同一首歌《If You Need Me》，當然，也由於唱片公司的大力宣傳促銷，最後是由Solomon Burke勝出。
