1967成立的美國樂團Dr. Hook & the Medecine Show，於1975將團名簡化為Dr. Hook。該團有數首膾炙人口的歌曲，像是《Sylvia's Mother》、《The Cover of Rolling Stone》等，其中也包含了此首《When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman》。

Dr. Hook雖然有兩位主唱，而多半的歌曲都是由戴眼罩的Ray Sawyer擔綱。此曲在他練習了數次之後，認為還是由另位主唱Dennis Locorriere來唱較為適合。果然此曲表現不俗，1979在美國告示牌熱門排行榜達到了第6名，在英國則是蟬聯了三週的冠軍。

與漂亮的女生談戀愛 ( 甚或是娶了漂亮的老婆 )，可能隨時都會擔心對方不貞及背叛吧？！想像中應該會是滿辛苦的，就如同歌詞一開始就點出的「It's hard」，但竟然會有人將「hard」想成是雙關語，真是天才腦袋。
