老歌亂談(202)As Tears Go By
這首歌是由滾石樂隊 ( The Rolling Stones ) 的主唱Mick Jagger和吉他手Keith Richards以及他們樂隊的經理Andrew Loog Oldham所共同譜寫。據說當初寫這首歌的情況是：Oldham將Jagger和Richards鎖在一間廚房裡，並逼迫他倆人要共同寫出一首歌。甚至還建議了歌曲的類型---『我要一首歌是四處有磚牆和高高的窗戶，而且不要與「性」有關。』歌曲出爐後取名為《As Times Go By》，但與電影Casablanca ( 北非諜影 ) 中的歌曲撞名，Oldham就將歌名中的Times改為Tears。
隨後，Oldham將這首歌給了英國女歌手Marianne Faithfull，原為要錄製在唱片的B面 ( 意為副打歌 )，而唱片公司卻將之調換至A面，使得這首歌在1964推出後大為成功，除獲得了英國排行榜的第9名，也是Faithfull開啟其歌唱事業的一首重要歌曲。
有人認為，這首歌是寫來回應The Beatles在1965的大熱門民謠曲《Yesterday》的，而此說法並不正確，因《As Tears Go By》的譜寫至少要比《Yesterday》早了一年，甚至是歌曲發行的時間。
滾石樂隊也在1965錄製了他們自己的版本，此版本較顯著的是在歌曲中安排了加重音量的鋼弦木吉他的伴奏。此曲在美國告示牌排行榜獲得了第6名，也是在滾石樂隊中少見的不「吵鬧」的歌曲。
