前面說到The Bee Gees兄弟受邀替靈魂天才歌手Otis Redding（奧提斯瑞汀）寫歌，但這位Otis Redding老兄隨後因飛機失事，結束了他短短二十六年的生命。而這首《(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay》是在出事前幾天即已錄製完成的歌曲，唱片公司在他死後的1968將之推出，立刻成為全美的冠軍歌曲，Otis Redding也因此曲獲得葛萊美「最佳節奏藍調歌曲」及「最佳節奏藍調男歌手」兩個獎項，可惜這些都只是身後的榮耀了。
