嘉義縣民雄鄉一處農田，11日傍晚6時許有民眾發現一位老農民倒臥田間、已經沒有生命跡象，立即通報消防局到場處理。警消人員到場時，老農民屍體已經僵硬、出現屍斑，明顯已經死亡一段時間。目前警方已經介入調查釐清。
警方指出，死者為61歲的洪姓男子，據家屬描述，11日下午洪男獨自出門到田中作業，直到傍晚才被民眾發現倒臥田間死亡，且死時手上還緊緊握著圓鍬；由於洪男罹患慢性病，警方不排除是在工作時突然因病倒臥田間死亡。
