SUBARU B9 Tribeca
Three rows of seating is a mandatory in the LSUV market, and the B9 Tribeca has it too. The second row seat can adjust for rack and lean, it also can be adjusted fore and aft for up to 8 inches. In a typical LSUV fashion, the third row seat is designed with children in mind. Both second and third row seats fold flat to increase cargo capacity.
The wrap around dash is very unique and cool. The futuristically high tech dashboard features convenient controls and high quality material, a true surprise coming from Subaru. A large 7” screen for the navigation system sits on top of the dash for easy read and control.
The 250 HP 3 liter H-6 engine provides barely adequate power for this 4200lb vehicle. The quick shifting 5-speed automatic transmission features manual. The new B9 Tribeca is Subaru’s attempt entering the ever expanding luxury SUV market. Famous for its all wheel drive system and horizontal opposed engines, it is a natural fit for Subaru to enter the SUV market. But will this B9 Tribeca be the vehicle bringing Subaru to the promise land?
First thing people will notice looking at the new Subaru B9 Tribeca is its controversial grill. This is the first offering of Subaru’s new design philosophy, to bring their aeronautic heritage to their automobile division. The overall shape is smooth with many interesting designing details. It is distinctly different from other LSUVs in the market, but with a familiar look. Some may even call it cool.
“sportshift” mode to quicken the pace. For a flagship LSUV, this vehicle needs a bit more power. Perhaps a 3.5 liter engine is better suited for such a heavy vehicle.
Overall, we feel the B9 Tribeca has an average performance among the current LSUV crops. But, if ones are tired of the other LSUV’s generic look, this unique looking vehicle might fit their bill very well.
