Chevrolet Tahoe
The new Tahoe represents a huge step forward for Chevrolet. At a time when gas prices hitting record highs on a daily basis, and competition is stiffer than ever, Chevrolet needs a product that can overcome these obstacles. The new Tahoe may be the vehicle.
Although totally redesigned this year, one can hardly tell the differences between this Tahoe and previous generation. Look closely, one will find the improvements are in the details. Uniform panel gaps, better interior qualities, better material addressed public’s criticisms toward past GM products. New dashboard and switch gears feel upscale and luxurious.
The standard power is from a 4.8 liter Vortec engine with maximum output of 285 HP. Optional is a 5.3 liter version of the engine with an output of 295 HP and 330 lb-ft. Both mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 7700 lbs.
The ride quality is almost sedan like, matching many so called luxury SUV on the market. The cabin is well isolated from noises uel and vibration. Passengers in all 8 seating positions can conduct civilized conversation without raising their voices. Active fuel management deactivates 4 cylinders when the car is in the cruising mode to save fuel. The action is transparent and unobtrusive to the driver.
Overall, we were impressed by this new Tahoe. Driving through the deserted mountains of Arizona, we can’t help by immersed in a serene atmosphere. This is as good as cruising can get.
