上帝的承諾
讀 經：列王記上3章1-15節
金 句：「你若遵行我的道，謹守我的律例、誡命，我必使你長壽。」（列王記上3章14節）

有個年輕人對他父母忤逆不孝。當他失去工作、女朋友也離他而去時，他抱怨連連，說上帝對他不公平。他認為要麼是主不愛他，要麼就是沒有給他在聖經中所承諾的幫助。他所不了解的是，耶穌所答應的天父的愛，只是給那些遵守他的誡命的人（約翰福音14章21-24節；15章9-14節）。
從列王記第三章我們知道，上帝因所羅門對「理解的心」比財富、尊榮和長壽更珍重，所以感到喜悅（列王記上3章9-11節）。所以他答應所羅門王，除了他所求的智慧，還要給他所有這些東西（3章42節）。所羅門在20歲的時候成為國王，但他只活到60歲就死了（列王記上11章42節）。上帝不是答應他長壽嗎？記住，有一個條件，就是「你若遵行我的道」（3章14節）。因為所羅門「不專心順從耶和華」（11章6節），上帝就無法讓他長壽。
如果你信他的兒子耶穌，你就是上帝的孩子，他答應你總不撇下你，也不丟棄你。如果你不順從他，你仍可盼望得到他的管教，此時，你可懺悔你的罪，仍然可以得到赦免的承諾（約翰一書1章9節）。
堅定對上帝承諾的信念，但別曲解。HVL
為耶穌活出真實的生命，
所作所為無不在求取悅於他，
忠順、喜悅的心，遠離罪惡，

What Did God Promise?
Read: 1 Kings 3:1-15
If you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, . . . then I will lengthen your days. --1 Kings 3:14
A young man was rebelling against his parents. When he lost his job and his girlfriend, he complained that God was being unfair. He didn't think the Lord was being very loving or was giving him the help He promised in the Bible. What he didn't realize was that Jesus promised a sense of His love and presence only to those who keep His commandments (Jn. 14:21-24; 15:9-14).
We read in 1 Kings 3 that God was pleased when Solomon valued "an understanding heart" over wealth, honor, and long life (vv.9-11). So He promised the king those blessings in addition to the wisdom he requested (vv.12-14). But Solomon, who was 20 when he became king, died at the relatively young age of 60 (11:42). What happened to the promise of long life? Remember, a condition was connected to it: "If you walk in My ways" (3:14). Because Solomon "did not fully follow the Lord" (11:6), God did not give him long life.
If you are God's child by faith in His Son, He has promised never to leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5). Yet you can still expect His loving discipline if you disobey Him (12:5-11). In such times you can turn to His promise to forgive when you confess your sin (1 Jn. 1:9).
Hold on to God's promises, but don't twist them. --HVL
Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me. --Chisholm
