St. Wolfgang, Austria

Translated by SFT

Should we go to Israel or not?

If we don’t, we should be able to finish the bike trip in Europewith the remaining money before we return to Taiwan.

If we do, we will have an extra expense: 2 round-trip plane tickets, overweight charge for the bicycles and the money to spend locally.

If we don’t, there will be a chance in the future.

If we do, it will cost less if we fly from UK.

If we don’t, we can stay 10 more days in UK.

If we do, it’s warmer in mid September in Israel than in UK.

Voting results were 1:1. It’s really a dilemma. We could not resolve it,so we decided to leave it to God. We prayed to God to give us a sign.If we got the sign, no matter how difficult it is to travel to Israel, we will face the challenges together.

We made a prayer after we left Vienna. If it turned out to be true before we left Salzburg, we would cycle to Israel to attend the pilgrimage. What is it? No one would know unless you are a regular reader of my blog.

We satin a chair near the River, eating toast bread for lunch and ready to depart Salzburg and head to Germany.

God always likes to ‘humor’ his people. After 380 km’s ride, the answer became known.

There’re very few Chinese living here. You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of Chinese residents. Once studying in Taiwan,Brother Yang Xueru, who happened to be walking with his German wife Eva, saw us and then greeted us passionately, ‘ If you are freeth is afternoon, we will take you to walk around the garden in St.Wolfgang, north of Salzburg.’

We were truly surprised because it’s our prayer to God that if anyone is willing to treat us in Salzburg, we will travel to Israel.

Sure.Let’s go to St. Wolfgang. God will bestow us the wisdom and lead us on the road.

This little town by the lake is like a paradise.

It has become famous because Mozart's mother and sister lived here in their later years.

On the wall of their residence are their names. Their portraits are also on the windows so that you will not miss it.

Water in the lake is so clean that you can clearly see the bottom of the lake.

However, it’s freezing; only the brave and enthusiastic youth dare to get into the water.

Chuan only dared to put his feet in the water :o).

This is a local cemetery, next to a church. It’s not a taboo for them that happy or sad occasions take place in the same location. There’s a funeral this morning and wedding afternoon in the church.

 First generation of Mozart chocolates

Brother Yang volunteered to be our tour guide, telling us the history about this town.

In the center of the town sits a statue of a violin that Mozart played when he was little. His sister was also a musical prodigy. Nonetheless, she did not shine as brightly then because of the timing and being a female.

The store clerk wears a local traditional costume.

After the sight-seeing of the wonderful landscape, let’s visit a legendary figure.

It’s free to visit the Flight Museum. You will be given a boarding pass at the entrance.

The Austrian government is not afraid of its people making money, but would like people to pay taxes. Everybody abides the policy, but this Museum is exempt from taxes.

Because the Museum is a non-profit institute, so it’s tax-free, thus admission is free.

All building materials are manufactured in Austria to promote the industrial development and economic growth.

You can see creativity everywhere. Have you ever seen a conference room in the air? It’s surely not a good idea to wear skirts up there.

It’s bad for an airplane to be in long term storage, so a test flight would keep it shipshape and also make a free advertisement for the beverage company.

If others do the same it would be considered tax evasion, but since the owner of the beverage company is also the owner of the museum, it’s tax write-off. This type of thing generates a buzz among people, and also turns into a tourist attraction.

Let’s guess what this image shown below is.

It’s a men’s restroom.

This is the women’s restroom. Yi took these photos… I think the women did better.

Even the signage for the restroom is very unique.

After visiting the Flight Museum, Brother Yang took us to a local Chinese restaurant and treated us to an enjoyable dinner.

Thank you, Brother Yang and Eva! You are our angels. Your reception has made us more confident in traveling to Israel; we will get plane tickets to the Holy Land.
