有些書寫的動魄，你一看就知道這和你的人生一點關聯都沒有，每當閱讀那種小說時，我知道我只是活在他書裡的世界，那和我基本上沒什麼關聯，或是像看電影那樣，我不過就是俗人一個，那些和我風馬牛不相干，儘管我也時常讓自已投注在他們的想像世界裡，但是那種痛苦和寂寥並不能深刻與我產生連繫，只能很假掰的說一些和現實距離相當遠的話題，仿若自已也能體會人生真諦，但是這本《能不能請你安靜點》，訴說的正是最平凡的小事，你沒有辦法透過書藉逃避不想面對的真相，他讓我們平凡的人生也充滿了小說感，猶如我們也正書寫著我們人生的小說，我們平凡、一般的活著，沒有槍也沒有太不可想像的巨變，但是總有什麼可怕的事物躲在下一個街角準備襲擊我們，今天安然的度過，下一日可能就發生，這是無可避開的，而且我想每個人讀他的文字必然帶出自已不同的故事，我想著每個人透過這短篇集結的22個故事再延伸出好幾個22個故事.......然後，我們也許會發現，彼此的小說情節，竟也有雷同之處，彼此互相抄襲著。Raymond Carver的字並不華麗，很好親近，他的故事們也好像就與我隔著一道門，像是鄰居一樣的比鄰於我的生活。
