New Flat new friends new start :)

The flat I am living at the moment is sublet by a Polish actor who occasionally appears in the big screen (different from the characters in the Extra comedy drama, he often has several lines, at times he plays as one of the main roles; most of time, he enjoys the theatre job where he could make immediate contact and immediate response from the audience during performance).

I found an advertisement on Student noticeboard at my university website. I knew myself may need to find a place to stay after December, no matter how the viva goes. Without given much thoughts, I emailed the poster; and I received a prompt reply. After exchanging our mobile number, we arranged the first meeting at the lobby of library. It was a 3 minutes hello and my cold was just starting that time so I didn't manage my time well and I was late for over 5 minutes.

He seems polite, sophisticated like a gentleman. I knew he wasn't a British according to his accent. Days later I paid his flat a visit on Sunday right after one Discussion Meeting at Andrew's. During the first and second visits to the flat, I haven't met any of other house-mates but I have a gut feeling telling me that Piotr is the one I can trust. This is very weird as I only had met him three times only but I knew that for sure.

I moved in right after Christmas day (27th). Since Boxing day, I had started shopping for duvet from John Lewis (£55), pillow (£3) and duvet cover (£15) from Next and I also started moving my belongings from Alice Garden to the new flat. They were the snowy days and the ground was covered by super thick snows and slippery ice. I back and forth moved them four times with my wheeled luggage.

The flat is not large: the first floor belongs to another lecturer (Irish girl Cathy), a stair case brings you to another flat door and that's the front door to my current flat now. I live on the first floor where a living room is besides my room, a kitchen and a restroom are also on the same floor. Piotr, law student Maciet (another Polish) and Paul (the Scottish) live up stair.

My old landlords wished me to stay since they worried me moving into a house full of men. However, at that stage of my mind, I really need a reassurance. Especially after the thesis submission, University doesn't recognise you as their student which means I no longer hold a student status if I don't start another degree here officially. In regard with where I lived, the guest room in College House is wonderful, dreamy but its a guest room. I never want to impose myself or exceed the hosts' hospitality. I love my landlords and warmly appreciate this friendship and relationship with them which I aim to keep for life. Overstaying is never a good thing, no matter how the hosts want you there. No marital assurance, no student status and no room of my own, I really got to restart my life here in order to stand up again! My tears dropped while gratefully declining landlord's offer and he can understand my vulnerability which is in desperate need of security sense in life at that particular moment.

The new flat is nice, Piotr is an actor from Poland who has been in his late 40s and suddenly decides to enrol himself into academic marine-biology. Maciet is a Polish student studying in bachelor degree in Law and Paul (one of the twin; we never met his the other half though) is a Scottish student doing a bachelor degree in Philosophy. Maciet is very much like a good student who works hard in study and very mono-mind in doing tasks. Paul is a friendly boy who keeps a big smile when he talks. Piotr is the more with complex. He said him rarely got angry but often acted angry in order to see friends' reaction.

This is a good mix of house-mates that I like. Simple enough to work on my own and sweet enough for me to chat around with them. I felt like an older sister (to these two boys and sometimes Piotr as well, since he has a adolescent boy living in his heart) and I am very glad that i found this place for 2011.
