老歌亂談(895)Vertical Expression ( of Horizontal Desire )
此曲為The Bellamy Brothers ( 貝拉米兄弟 ) 所寫，收錄在1999的專輯《Lonely Planet》中，但有兩個版本，另一為與Freddy Fender合唱 ( Freddy唱西班牙文 )。歌曲頗不錯聽，而令人詫異的是，此曲另發行的單曲，竟然未能打進排行榜。
歌曲說的是關於跳舞。由歌名，應是引用愛爾蘭劇作家也曾為樂評的蕭伯納 (George Bernard Shaw) 所曾提出的 ---「跳舞：是音樂合法化的水平慾望的垂直表達 ( Dancing：The vertical expression of a horizontal desire legalized by music. )。」並且認為：
如果舞蹈不以某種方式醞釀著生命的狂熱和慾望，與另一個人的靈魂和另一個人的身體接觸的慾望，那麼它就不是舞蹈。
慾望，慾望，慾望，慾望。如果你的舞蹈不包含慾望，那麼它就是空洞的。這是一場表演。這是一種行為。這是一個騙局。慾望是關鍵。
如果這種慾望不是非法的，或者如果轉向水平而不能禁止兒童，那麼它根本就沒有樂趣。
