老歌亂談(718)Speed of the Sound of Loneliness
此曲為美國鄉村/民謠歌手兼詞曲作家John Prine所寫，並收錄在其1986的專輯《German Afternoons》中。而此曲另較知名的，卻是美國女歌手Nanci Griffith與John Prine合唱的版本，收錄在Nanci Griffith 1993的專輯《Other Voice, Other Rooms》，並另發行了單曲。
John Prine自1971出道，歌唱成績尚可。至1998前，四度被提名葛萊美獎，而其中在1992曾贏得了一座。也是在1998，John Prine與「鱗狀細胞癌 ( Squamous-Cell carcinoma ) ← 皮膚癌的一種。」奮戰之後，更加深成了「砂礫嗓 ( gravel-voice )」，但這也未必是壞事，結果讓他在2006又獲得了一座「最佳當代民謠專輯」的葛萊美獎。

翻唱此曲較著名的有Kim Carnes及英國樂團Alabama 3等。而或許是適合獨唱、對唱及合音，翻唱此曲的一般歌手也不少。
