老歌亂談(679)Just a Closer Walk with Thee
這是首美國傳統的福音歌曲，出處及年代已不可考，咸信在「南北戰爭」時期就已出現在非裔族群的教堂中，之後也成為紐奧良「爵士葬禮 (Jazz funeral)←有點類似台灣的西索米樂隊出殯送葬」最常吹奏的輓歌。

歌名及歌詞引喻自聖經「2 Corinthians ( 哥林多後書？)」中「We walk by faith, not by sight.」及James ( 雅各書？) 中「Come near to God and he will come near to you.」的字句。Thee的意思為「汝」、「爾」= you，是古英文或是教徒的用法，為「受格」(「主格」則是使用Thou，Thou art = You are )。
此曲最早發行唱片的是1941的「Selah Jubilee Singers四重唱」，之後翻唱的知名歌手超過百人以上。以下所貼為美國鄉村歌手Barbara Mandrell ( 1989專輯《Precious Memories》) 及民謠皇后Joan Baez ( 1969專輯《David's Album》) 的版本。
