老歌亂談(463)The First Cut Is The Deepest
此曲為英國歌手兼寫歌者Cat Stevens於1965所作，由於當時只想成為一位歌曲作家，故只將此曲錄成「示範帶」以為促銷。後以以30英磅賣給了在英國發展的美國靈魂女歌手P.P. Anorld。Anorld於1967首錄發行，在英國單曲排行榜獲得第18名，也成為了她第一首的暢銷曲。之後，Cat Stevens也錄唱自己的版本，收錄在他的第二張專輯《New Master》中。但Stevens一直未將這首歌作為單曲發行，因為他覺得Anorld的版本已將此曲定調了。
這首歌後經翻唱而成為國際暢銷曲，較為知名的版本為：1973- Keith Hampshire ( 加拿大 )、1977-Rod Stewart ( 英國 ) 以及2003-Sheryl Crow ( 美國 ) 。而其中Stewart和Crow的版本將最後三行的歌詞省略掉了，或許是想給聽者有不同的感覺吧！有趣的是，包含Cat Stevens的原唱，各有粉絲擁護，都認為是最佳的版本，只不知這其中是否掺雜了有國籍情結？我個人則是較喜歡Stewart的版本。
「一朝被蛇咬，十年怕井繩。」此曲說的是男子第一次分手被對方傷的很重，以致不敢再隨意墜入情網。而歌中的這位老兄還好，至少還試著再去愛，有些人在感情上受創後卻再也回不來了。唉 ~！
