這首歌曲是Paul McCartney所作，但在錄音時卻是一波三折，主要當然是其他團員覺得不好聽。錄了幾天，試唱了約60遍，而且也試了各種不同的節奏和風格，但仍未搞定。大才子John Lennon顯然是不耐煩了，還飆出說這是保羅的「他奶奶的狗屎音樂」--- Paul's "granny music shit"，並且離開了錄音室。過後Lennon返回，看來是在大麻起了作用的狀態之下，他逕自坐上了鋼琴，開始用力及加快速度的彈此曲的前奏，並且還說了一句：『這首歌就是要這樣彈。』而這也成為了這首歌最後被定案的版本。

“Ob-La-Di,Ob-La-Da,Life goes on,Bra”這句詞是McCartney從他認識的一位奈及利亞的Conga ( 康加 ) 鼓手Jimmy Scott處聽來的，後來Jimmy還為此向McCartney要求金錢報償，甚至告上了法庭。但彼時Jimmy自己卻因與前妻的財務糾紛被關進了看守所，結果由於 McCartney協助出錢使之獲釋，Jimmy也因此對McCartney撤告。

有人說，Ob-La-Di,Ob-La-Da是奈及利亞的約魯巴 ( Yoruba ) 語言，意思就是Life goes on ( 日子還是得過 )。所以這首歌表面上是在描述小人物的快樂生活，但也由於這句Life goes on ( 雖然有正面鼓勵的意義 )，但若深層一些的思考，多少還是會感受到生活背後些許的辛酸。至於Bra的意思？幾乎所有參與歌詞釋疑的老外都同意這是Brother的簡稱，但我看有人將之翻成「胸罩」，那就真的是貽笑大方了。

在錄音時，McCartney一時嘴滑，將後段其中兩句的Molly和Desmond給唱反了，但眾人覺得有趣，也就將錯就錯的給留了下來。

由於Lennon一直都不喜歡這首《Ob-La-Di,Ob-La-Da》，故雖然此曲被收錄在披頭1968的專輯中，但直至1976前都未在英美兩國作單曲發行。反而是之後被蘇格蘭樂隊The Marmalade翻唱，竟然在1969獲得英國排行榜的冠軍，唱片銷售量也超過了百萬張，這些恐都是Lennon始料未及的吧。
