出生於1939的Don Williams，在三歲的時候即參加了當地的才藝比賽，並贏得了他的第一個獎品 ─ 「鬧鐘」。後於青少年時開始學習吉他，及自組熱門民謠合唱團，曾錄製了一首《Time》，成為家鄉德州當地的流行歌曲。1971開始單飛，演唱一些流行民謠，並且累積了有十七首的西部鄉村冠軍歌曲，2010獲引薦進入鄉村歌曲名人堂。

Don Williams粗獷卻又滑順的中低嗓音，以及柔和的聲調，使他在鄉村音樂界博得了「Gentle Giant」的綽號。
