Nike’s tactical ad featuring Wayne Rooney broke in mid June in London, on the day of England’s World Cup match against Sweden. It has made a bit of a stir - front page on the national newspapers, also appearing as a centre spread souvenir poster in the Sun and the Guardian. I remember that we bought a Guardian (if my short-term memory works) and got a poster with Rooney last year before Euro Cup...very common foto featuring Rooney & Beckham on the football pitch, but this one is far more intriguing! It activates many associations in my head...and accidentally also works v well with his ”hatred” against C Ronaldo recently. Good piece of ad work.

I am not a fan of Rooney, but do appreciate his prowess. No one should hate him anyway...at least he is the drive to make me back to Manchester to see his match one day.
