Le Gavroche Restaurant

Le Gavroche  Restaurant

Consistently rated the most romantic restaurant in Vancouver,

this is a gorgeous little "house" a block above West Georgia,

above the White Spot/Westin Bayshore.

It has burnt down and been rebuilt twice now,

I believe.

Le Gavroche is Vancouver’s longest standing French restaurant,

offering Vancouver classical French cuisine in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.

French restaurants can sound very expensive and snooty - this is not.

I'd call this "country French" great portions,

few of the mini tower style of tiny portion French cooking,

just great food in a lovely ambience.

In a city whose big name restaurants are usually ultra-modern,

Le Gavroche is unique for its classic European style

and intimate, romantic setting.

Try one of the tasting menus with wine pairings,

and you won’t regret a mouthful.

The menu at Le Gavroche features classic French recipes inspired by

 the freshest West Coast ingredients.

We arrived to an intimate home-like setting.

There were lush, warm colours and beautiful French details that made

the place feel like a villa from St. Tropez.

Although some may think it too homey for such an extravagant treat,

the coziness and comfort instantly won me over.

It doesn’t matter how old or young they are, guys who still got game

know that one of the best restaurants in town to woo a lady is Le Gavroche.

Ladies' restroom~

It was charming and relaxed and just as we wanted -- romantic!

Very intimate ambiance, experienced staff members.

A good place for a serious date where you can hear what the other person is saying.

Or.. someone across the room can. ;)

The food is very good,

they have extensive wine list (but a little pricey!

a glass starts at $10.5 or something to per bottle $7500 something).

Youthful exuberance is all well and good, but to deliver dishes of this effortless,

simple sophistication takes years of experience!

This quaint two-storey Victorian, complete with daffodil-coloured walls

and cozy fireplace, just improves with age.

To top it all off carol singers dressed in period garb came in

and sang in honour of the season.

Another gorgeous night at a reliably consistent restaurant.
