Home-made, Sevilla / 塞維亞的家常菜

When it comes to home-made food, I have to introduce our house mom, Trudi, who prepared lunch and dinner for us almost everyday during our 2-week stay in Sevilla.
說到塞維亞家常菜, 就要介紹我們的塞維亞媽媽 - Trudi - 我們在塞維亞待了約兩星期, 她幫我們準備了所有的午餐與晚餐 (除了我們一起去外面吃, 或是到外地出遊之外)。

Trudi was a very caring woman and had lunch with us everyday (BTW, lunch at 2 pm). Although only one of use spoke Spanish 101, she was very patient with us. There was a Spanish-English dictionary in her apartment, and we always used it to communicate with her during our lunch time together. As a theatre person, I also used my body language to act out (although I am not an actress, I am a designer), and she could understand most of what I meant.
塞維亞媽媽每天中午 (指下午兩點左右) 與我們一起用午餐, 我們四個當中只有一個會初級西班牙文, 剛好她客廳有一本西英字典 (或許不是剛好, 因為一直有我們學校的學生來住, 前人留下的, 知道後人用的上) 我們邊吃邊翻字典, 我連劇場人的本能也出來, 比手畫腳, 用我的肢體語言來表達; Trudi 很有耐心, 我們這樣雞同鴨講, 也溝通了兩星期。

Since I didn’t speak Spanish, I had no way to name these dishes that she made for us. There were salad,chicken, beans, and soups, . . .
既然不會說西班牙文, 我也記不住這些菜名, 請欣賞照片吧!


* Ham and cheese were fried together and I liked it a lot. (top right corner)
這個把火腿與起司一起炸的, 蠻不錯的, 不會太油膩。(右上角)


* If you notice, we had a lot of potatoes. Spanish people really love potatoes. At the restaurant menu, there is a section for potato. I am not a big fan of potato but I don’t hate it, either.
應該發現有很多馬鈴薯了吧! 他們超愛馬鈴薯的, 連餐廳的菜單, 都有一部分全是以馬鈴薯為原料作的菜; 還好回來後, 也沒有得了馬鈴薯恐懼症。


* After several days of potato, we were hoping for something different. She made fried chicken and fish and I loved fish.
不過幾天後, 我們已經受不了, 希望塞維亞媽媽給我們做一些不一樣的; 然後就有這些炸雞炸魚, 雖然跟我們台灣的豪大雞排不能比, 但也蠻不錯的。

* This was like pasta, but not pasta, with boiled eggs – I forgot actually.
有點像義大利麵, 但不是,我忘了!


Trudi knew that we liked Sangria so she bought a big bottle for us. We had it for almost every meal; I even had some before sleep every night – keep me warm.
The bottle was empty in a few days so she got us a 2nd one. I forgot to take a photo of it but here’s the entrance to a bar – you could tell that Sangria is very very popular in Sevilla.
塞維亞媽媽知道我們喜歡 Sangria 這種酒, 特地去買一大瓶放冰箱, 給我們慢慢喝, 我們每餐都小酌一番, 我每天睡前也喝一點點, 暖暖的。沒幾天就喝完了, 塞維亞媽媽又買了一瓶。
不過我忘了照一張, 這是一家店的玄關; 其實很多店都有這種可愛的門口擺飾。


BTW, Spanish people like to drink (so do Americans, if I may say so). I walked by this bar and just took a photo of its interior. The one at the bottom left corner is another brand that is extremely popular there. Again, I don’t drink – maybe YOU can tell me what it is and how it tastes like.
西班牙人是很愛喝一杯的, 隨便在街上走, 看到的店都擺很多酒瓶。左下角這一瓶也是很普遍的牌子, 造型很風趣。
