〈Time and Tide〉 ZHANG Wei-long

秋風吹白蘆葦的頭髮

The autumnal wind's blown to whiten the hair of common reed grasses

搖曳荒涼

In the wind swaying n' bending rustling in the desolate wilderness

田野多了幾分滄桑的詩句

Thus added to the farm fields n' wilderness are the poetic verses somewhat smacks of vicissitudes in life

你讀出浪漫

A-     reading, you detect out the romance

我看出涼意

I see feeling the coolness

我們各自解讀

We've got our own interpretations

屬於秋天

of something in fall

四季輪轉的深意

the deeper implications of the four seasons rotating

時間催白青春的頭髮

Time and tide pushes and urges the youthful hair to get whitened

點綴滄桑臉龐上的韻味

Spot-adorned with some style n' taste added onto the face of the vicissitudes

東一撮 西一撮

To the east one stroke or tuft and another to the west

是誰淚眼婆娑

Who is it that has the teardrops shredded whirling; dancing

知道生命倏忽

Knowing the impermanence of life that's short and fleeting

世間無常不可捉摸

In this world the impermanence is unpredictable

不過紅塵暫留

But the mundane world of red dust is short-lived and transient - not to stay long
