Stanford Women's Volleyball
Joline's Japanese tutor said her husband Eitan works at Stanford University. He is the the athletic trainer of Stanford Women's Volleyball team. When I heard about this, I was so excited because Volleyball is my favorite sports. I anxiously asked Joline to see if her tutor could give us some more details and she said Eitan could arrange tickets for us for a coming game, Stanford vs Washington on 10/10/09. This is the 2nd time I go to Stanford Volleyball Game. The 1st time was almost 10 years ago with one of my volleyball friends. (To be continued...)
The gym is well equipped. There is an overhead display that allow you to see individual players stat. I think this game is broadcast-ed by local TV so there are several cameras around the court. If you miss a good play, it will usually replay on the big screen.
Stanford team is on the right side of the above picture. The other team had a 15-0 record before this match. Surprisingly (not that I am complaining), Stanford beat them by 19-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12. It was a great match and Stanford won by a nose.
After the game, Eitan waved to us from the court. We actually had not met Eitan before and kept guessing which staff might be him during the game. I think Eitan recognized us by where we sat and the fact that we are the only Asians sitting in the reserved area.
Brian and Joline took this picture just before I headed home.
