Day 9 Palace of Fine Arts+Japanese Tea Garden

Day 9 Palace of Fine Arts,Japanese Tea

Garden,St. Aidan's Episcopal Church,takoyaki

Day 9 2014/05/03

****************************************************

Breakfast is bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, yogurt and milk. Just in case you're

wondering why we're having scrambled eggs almost every day, it's because

Eason likes them!

After breakfast, Eason wrote some postcards while Ethan did his Japanese

homework. Sydon is at Japanese school but I let Ethan stay home to be with

Eason. Otherwise Japanese school finishes at 2:35pm and Eason would be

all by himself. Instead, we're using the time to visit SF. Eason had his leftover

pizza right before we leave for sight seeing.

Palace of Fine Arts

Ethan brought along a mini Andriod he bought yesterday. In the car we were

thinking of names for the Andriod .After much discussion, we decided to call

this one Disco as it has a bell making music inside him.

Andriod

Disco,

The boys are tossing Disco up in the air!

This is a perfect shot! Beautiful background and smiling boys.

Boys will be boys; they're not impressed with the view but rather played 'toss

the toy'. Here it comes.

I told them that if they dropped it, they will owe me a dollar. They now owe me

5 bucks. :-)

The boys climbed up the wall. Eason had to take it slow as it's quite high. Watch

out, don't look down!

Can you tell which ones are statues and which ones are real?  ;-)

Eason pointed out some ducklings in the pond. How cute is that! Seven little

ducklings with mommy duck.

Let's climb up the tree.

Best buddies!

Let's not forget where we are....Palace of Fine Arts

Japanese Tea Garden

Like Chinese in Chinatown, Japanese has a long history in San Francisco.

During WWII they were all rounded up and placed in forced internment but

were released after the war.

Main door to the Japanese Tea Garden.

This is the stall for the hot dog!

this is the Indian food truck.

But the boys were hungry so we grabbed some lunch first. Ethan and I had

Indian food truck and Eason opted for hot dogs.

Hmmm..... yum!

Now we've finally entered the tea garden.

Boys staring at the coins in the stream. Eason asked,' Can I take them?' They

were calculating how much were in there....

This is a fantastically steep bridge. It's almost like climbing a ladder.

Japanese pagoda.

Once we came out of the garden, the boys were play-fighting over who can get

on the rock. Eason had the advantage...

Yes, Ethan is up too. Watch your balance!

Oops, Eason losing balance there....

Both off now....giggling and laughing. How fun was that!

St. Aidan's Episcopal Church

the CAIS talant show at 3pm at a nearby church.

After the performance, they came back for a quick game of basketball in our

neighbourhood park.

While I'm back home getting ready for our takoyaki party. Takoyaki is a Japan-

ese snack food made from grilling batter into balls with a piece of octopus inside.

You first pour the batter into the molds and then you add the fillings. After that

you need to start turning them over to give them the round shape.

Rebecca helped the kids 'flip' their takoyaki in this picture.

Ethan Chin and Ann being very serious turning their takoyaki.

This is what takoyaki looks like when it's done. Served with Japanese sauce

and mayo and sprinkers of seaweed.

Eason and his takoyaki. Doesn't it look great.
