France has advantages that many other countries do not: its geography is diverse, wine making technology combines traditional and new styles, and its strict system of quality management-“AOC”. The methods of marketing sales for négociants (Bordeaux’s 400 wine business men who sell 800,000,000 bottles of wine to 160 countries each year) they use also.

France has many different climates and type of soils in which come together and are just like the pieces of puzzle to create a winegrowing area so varied and unique. There are three mainly climates- maritime climate, continental, and Mediterranean. Because of these unique conditions, most grapes could present their best characteristic; such as famous cabernet sauvignon grows in Bordeaux and pinot noir in Burgundy. Especially pinot noir, the only red variety grown in Burgundy, yields an astoundingly diverse range of expressions. People could always have something new to discover.
