自傳




#1 You cannot become as successful as Ingvar Kamprad by accident. Shake hands with the eighty year-old zealous man who is now one of the world’s richest people, and it is clear that you are in the presence of a man who thrives on a competitive drive; that is what I want to be in the future. To begin with, my real name is Der-Rou Lin, but I also go by Roy Lin. This summer, I have accomplished my one year of study experience at California High School as a foreign exchange student in the United States. At Cal High, I took subjects such as English, mathematics, history, Java programming, marketing, photography, fashion design, and team sports. It was a fantastic experience and I am determined to face any obstacles in order to achieve my goals.






#2 My favorite hobby is writing. Strange to say, I began to have the passion for writing in elementary school when we had to keep a diary. My passion for writing grew after my literature teacher complimented me on my writing talents. I have also written some novels that were produced from my own opinions and point of view. In addition, it has improved my wisdom and I have developed a better understanding of things. Besides writing, I also have many other hobbies; one of which is dancing. As long as I have leisure, I enjoy practicing dancing at the Taipei MRT station with my friends. Although we are usually worn out after a full day of dancing, we always feel refreshed after working up a sweat. I believe our life can be richer if we develop a wide variety of interests.






#3 Incidentally, both of my parents have their own company, thus, they know business and management very well and that’s the reason why I want to take the subject of MBA in the future during my university years. I’m really interested in the marketing. Actually, I have done some business management on the eBay auction website; I enjoy doing trade on the internet. Apart from earning money, I like marketing because I can contact many foreign and interesting people. It also allows me to see how rapacious society can or can not be.






#4 I believe that if you are truthful, many people will like you. It is an importance to be able to say honestly if there’s something that you cannot do just like it is important to acknowledge the things that you do well, so that you can ask people to enjoy it with you. That is my approach, and that is why many people say I am easy to socialize with. My other motto in life is to be humble and to endlessly persist and strive. I really believe that there is nothing that can be gained without effort. My favorite quote from a Chinese proverb, “Once you can take the hardest pains, you will be the noblest man.”
If you ask what my conception of English is, I will say English is a bridge for reaching different cultures and customs. It can expand our knowledge and enrich our lives. For this reason, I have struggled to learn English for many years and now I have had the ability to read English newspapers and magazines. To my satisfaction, I can write compositions and chat with foreigners in English easily now.





#5 Life is a massive dinner party that never ends. I will always make sure that the first thing I do every morning is think about how I can make my life more colorful instead of worrying on how to make my bank account more abundant.
