Title: Classifying Advertisements
For there are different kinds of commodities in the society, manufacturers had to promote their products in order to draw the consumers’ attention. According to the marketing, one of “4Ps” is “promotion”. By the way, manufacturers can promote the goods by advertisements, including TV-ads, magazine-ads, posters or advertising balloons, advertisement boards and so on.
May be there still several qualities to divide the ads into categories, but this time I separate them for what they are promoting. What we usually see on TV are the basic necessities of life: such as clothing, foods, drinks, or cars…etc. Some ads like Sony or Apple I-pod, their products are radios or mp3s. It’s obvious that the advertisement of Sony is long time ago, for people probably use the mp3s by now. The drinks, which in the majority of the advertisements, are always come up on the TV screens. Such as Pocari and Coca-cola, they are the popular drinks we have heard since we were kids. Why that kind of products have released for such a period of time and still so popular among people? It depends on the non-stop publicizing. Without this method to promote the product frequently, how can Coca-cola be known to every family and household? To advertise the goods often so as to recall the people and always keep the product permanently. And that’s why Coca-cola is the best seller of the world.
And there are some advertisements for clothing. The advertisement may be showing what the season of clothing is on store now, or there is a big sale to notice people to buy things with a discount. And also, some ads for body lotion, and some are selling cars. All of these are relevant to our daily lives. Some advertisements are not so frequent to be seen, and they are not for selling goods. This kind of advertisements mainly for popularizing some ideas, “ECOSHIP” or “BYOB (bring your own bag, which means not asking for the plastic bags when you are buying things)”. Or just a picture of a bird, warning people to protect the endangered species of mammals or plants.
Those I mentioned above are the advertisements classifying, according to what kind of things the advertisement is popularizing.
