Life in Taoyuan

The week right following Chinese new year’s holidays was really easy (and lazy =.=) but it turned out to be a totally different story after that because moving to Taoyuan was certain that Sunday night.

Looking for a new place is always tiring as well as moving. It takes A LOT OF walking and even MUCH MORE for a picky house looker. =””= It’s my first time to live in a ”whole” apartment (I used to live in a suite.) The rent is surely significantly higher but it is in a nice, comfortable and safe condominium. Besides, there are a public swimming pool, a few dumpsters including recycling bins and the security guards would pick up registered mails for residents there.

Everything seemed perfect until the third day I moved in. There’d been water coming out from nowhere in the living room. There were two areas where water would be on the ground. I called the landlady the next day and she came to check. She found the water was from the book shelf of the wall unit. She thought the water came from the gap of the air-conditioner right next to the shelf so she said to block the gap with cloths in a few days and she would call a repair person to come and see as well. A week later, the repair man hadn’t show up but I was fed up with mopping all the water on the ground a few times every single day~ It seemed that the water was more and more~ I called the landlady again and told her so.

“It shouldn’t be the air-conditioner then,” she said, ”the water should dry up by now if it is from there. I will call the other repair person to check if there is somewhere leaking in the living room.”

”OK. Can you ask them to come as soon as possible? If they can, come today. I’ve been tired of cleaning all the water,” I complained.

“I will. Sorry for all the trouble,”she apologized.

A leak-checking guy came that night. He checked the living room and the neighbor’s as well. There was a little bit of water in their living room, too. He asked to turn off the water tank overnight to see if there was still water coming in but I couldn’t switch it off. I tried both ways to turn it off but it didn’t work. So, I called him to come again the next day since I thought there was nothing to do with the water tank and there had to be a leak behind the shelf. The repair man decided to knock off the shelf but the terrible result of it was that there was HUGE of water flooding out~ He cemented the leak and then left but the ”flood” was bothering me for two days~ I cleaned it for hours that night and then it finally dried up the next day. Anyway, the problem was eventually taken care of. No more water mopping~ =””= I did NOT expect this before moving into this apartment at all.

Besides the water problem, my laptop got infected with viruses soon after I moved to Taoyuan. I tried to reinstall it twice but it didn’t work. I took my laptop to a computer shop and one of the mechanics there gave me two anti-virus programs that he claimed to be cure-all. I installed them into my laptop and reinstall my laptop again. Hah. It did work~ : D

Anyway, both problems were gone. Hope I can have a peaceful life from now on~
