Clear Up

His coming back didn’t make things work smoothly but got even worse. Arguments took over her planned surprising welcome. All things went to the bottom issue again: his marital status.

”I guess you feel ashamed of our relationship, don’t you?” she said in depression.
”Nope~ I don’t~” he declined.
”Then, why did you speak Mandarin on the van when you were heading to LA? Was there any one you knew there?”
”Nope. Just I didn’t want others to judge me without full understanding.”
”So what? Are they somebody to you? They are strangers~” she spoke up.
”Nope, they aren’t but I didn’t want to feel uncomfotable about the environment.”
”Would you chat?” she doubted.
”Not really.”
”So freaking what? If you didn’t even chat, why the hell did you care about how they were gonna think about you?!”
”I just didn’t feel comfortable there.”
”If you didn’t even talk, how could you know how they thought?”
”I could tell.”
”OK. You are telling me that they would think or criticize you in their mind, which made you uncomfortable~”
”I am not a stupid person, okay? I can tell how people would normally react.”
”So? If they are somebody to you, surely you would care about how they think. But they are freaking strangers~”

The conversation went in a circle like that. She can’t understand his point nor he can make his stand convincing.

”I think you couldn’t call me because you were afraid of annoying your wife and then she might do something stupid to mess things up,” she brought up another thorny issue.
”Not really. Mainly because I didn’t want to use her house line.”
”Because you were afraid of annoying her.”
”Nope. Using her phone is an offense. I would have gone out to call if the phone booth isn’t miles away.”
”What annoys her is that you talk to me. I don’t think she cares what way you contact me.”

The tiff went on without a final consensus. Just they both expressed their thoughts.

”Do you think it’s gonna help to think about all these things?” he put the first question in their talk.
”Not at all. But I can’t get rid of them easily. I need time.”
”You control how you think,” he said with mocking laughters.
”I am trying. Or I would have just kept silent.” she said numbly without mentioning if you could, you wouldn’t have lied to avoid trouble~

After work, he sent her a message to say he was done when she was about to take a shower. Two hours later, he phoned to ask if she was going over while she had a mask on the face and could only talk awkwardly. =.=
