Inner Sanctum in a time of War by Bianca P. Floyd

Sometimes, to have courage
Means to walk in fear,
But you walk anyway.
When you have a question,
You ask.
And fear of rejection
Becomes relief because
You received an answer
Make truth
A warm cup of tea,
And love
The happiness
You enjoy
At no one’s expense.

Make peace
Your practice and passion
And a oneness with the universe,
Your religion.
Study Mahatma Ghandi, and
Martin Luther King,
Learn Malcolm, and Mandela,
Fannie Lou Hamer
And Ella Baker.
Make
Every day’s entry
A work of art
In the world
On the way
To the end of hate
And the beginning of love.
Let not group bravado,
Masquerade as power
At the world’s expense.

Good literature is entertainment,
Commercial violence
Is somebody’s else’s profit.
If the earth school
Is a teaching process, Learn something.
And let your studied lessons
Move you to joy
And not injustice.

I believe the best things in life
Are free
And an audience is
Unnecessary
When God is present,
And the conversation
Is meaningful as it always is in his presence.
Are we “following the leader”
A ring around a thorn or the rosey bush,
Or is the leader looking for followers,
To hide and go seek
Is this a kiddie game?
For a season,
I ran and it made me sick.
And sick means rest and rest means well.
Get it!
When you tremble stand still.
When you fear, face it.
When you have a question, ask.
Life is as simple as that.
Love is as simple as that.
The planet
Needs both
To survive
In this world of hate and violence
When most folks just want
To be held warmly,
Live peaceably
And contribute positively.
I
Write at a time
Of
War
Because I do
Love you
My fellow man.
