因為Enigma系列音樂高度的獨創性，有著現代舞曲的節奏和令人神往的音樂氛圍，致使它廣泛地被用作於廣告等背景音樂。Enigma(英格瑪)源自於希臘文，英語解釋為：謎和不可思議的東西。Enigma是由音樂策劃製作組與核心人物Michael Cretu與Sandra Lauer夫婦所通力完成。
Enigma創作曲風，融合十六世紀的葛利果聖歌旋律、秘魯風格的排蕭、笛子與打擊樂為人熟知的聲音，編曲再襯以灑脫的迪斯可節奏，構成了Sadeness一極富個性的音樂，此曲表現了古典嚴肅音樂的特色與通俗流行的電子配樂，法式自由悠長的吟唱，中世紀教堂唱詠想像畫面，宗教意味與神秘色彩意境，表達了一種對遠古文明追憶的理想情結，從冥想回到現實的一種失落而憂傷的感覺，歌詞勾勒出對淵遠流長教義神聖景仰，俗世心靈卻骥絆掙扎，整張專輯不同凡響創意樂章震撼全球樂迷。
