假如~都嘛是說說而以
後悔的一種藉口

When my son turned 16, I conducted my own version of sex education with him. I told him if he was responsible for any girl getting preganant and, if she decided to have the baby, he would have to quit school, find himself a job to support the child. He is still in school. Good news, eh?

My son has a girl friend with whom he went to high school with. She is Japanese and currently working in Japan while my son is completing school in the U.S. One fellow student from China expressed great interest in my son and tried to encourage him to form serious relationship with her. Although my son told her he already has a girl friend, he came to talk to me feeling lost and overwhelmed by this girl. He feels lonely and a sense of sacrifice in the long-distance relationship. I have great empathy for him; but can not make any decisions for him. I did tell him that in his life time he might come across similar situations again and again, especially if he become successful and rich. Each time he would have to find his own deep self and face up the situations. I get the feeling that my son has moved on and left the 'what if' behind since our last conversation. Hopefully he grows into manhood with great confidence from these early experiences.
