My Birth Card

Chariot & Tower

XVI The Tower

Number XVI (16) reduces to 7, a number that denotes power. A stone tower shown being destroyed by fire and lightening. The battle with The Devil ceases in one profound moment of understanding.
The light of true perception devastates the edifice of understanding on which the seeker stood so confidently. At last, the light breaks through.
It is an awesome light that strikes all ignorance and cares nothing for the concepts and frailties of the individual. The Devil is seen for what it is, neither good nor bad, and the effect of this realization is shattering.
A gateway leading to the ultimate goal suddenly opens. The battle against the will is over. No material structure can stand before the raw power of the full glare of the divine light.

Negative;
Some cannot accept the realization of the Devil's true nature and become trapped in a cage of inflexible dogma and neurotic compassion.

VII The Chariot

The number is VII. The number of progress and independent action.
The decision of the preceding card has been firmly made and the show is on the road.
And what a show it is.
Confident and effective, the integrated ego moves smoothly through the material world.
He needs no reins to guide his two horses.
The power of his personality controls all he comes into contact with.
He knows where he is going and his role is clear.
Through mastery of will, he has concentrated his faculties and he uses them well to the benefit of himself and of those outside his golden chariot.

Negative;
But there's the rub.
Do not stand in the path of his triumphant journey or you may have to be run down, in the interests of progress, of course.

The Charioteer is in control of the horses because he's the only one who can see--and knows, exactly where they're going. He is high enough up to see over the horses' heads. So you have the horses, forces of nature, directed by him because of his sight and insight. There's also an inevitability about it--the wheels are rolling, and there's no stopping now.

The Tower is about falsehoods coming down--a flash of lightening that shows you the truth.

Consider these interpetations on the other "7's"--7/cups, about trying to find the real cup to drink amid illusion and dream cups; 7/swords, about trickery and theft in the dead of night; 7/wands, about standing firm and fighting for your truth; 7/Pents, about patiently waiting for the whole truth (harvest, if you will).

I think the shared "7" might be the attribute of seeing the truth, or insight, or even just keeping your eye on the prize, at times when it's a real challenge to do so. It'd be far less tiring to let the reins drop and stop trying to direct the horses. Easier to give into the illusions of the cups, not wait for that harvest, stop fighting for the truth or face dishonesty.

But the Tower brings the message home if you ignored it with the Chariot. The truth will flash before your eyes so brilliantly that even though you want to hold onto the lie, even if denial is easier, even if surrender is more tempting than fighting...you can't ignore it. You can't deny it. The lightening has struck, the Tower is falling, and you there's no turning back. There's no "unseeing" or "unknowing" the truth you've been shown. As with the Chariot, once you're in it and the wheels start rolling, you pretty much have to direct it to the finish line (or through that war zone).

So you might as well put on your armor and go for victory.

You may often experience vast abilities to re-orchestrate your momentum in world-altering ways.

16/7 (Personality: Tower, Soul: Chariot)

Having the Tower for a personality card brings a need to build strong, true foundations in everything that you do. These people have great inner strength and fortitude, and instinctively know that that which is built on a poor foundation will crumble to the ground at some point. They are willing to take their time and do the homework necessary to do things right the first time.

The Chariot soul card reflects one who deeply enjoys a good challenge and these individuals love it when the odds are stacked against them and they emerge victorious! They are learning to balance their self-esteem with the strategies they use to achieve victory in all aspects of their lives.

The Tower:

Astrological Sign: Mars

Keywords: spiritual awakening, sudden/unexpected change, chaos, abrupt change in life structures, “lightening bolt” of wisdom, frustration, anger, fear, freedom from restrictions, setbacks, suppressed anger, clearing that which no longer serves you well out of your life, unwillingness to let go of established structures.

The Chariot:

Astrological Sign: Cancer

Keywords: self-control, victory, triumph, confidence, faith, mind over heart, depending on yourself, making use of your skills/abilities, over-confidence, recklessness, scattered energy, anger, rebelliousness, inflated ego.

The Theme for this lifetime is that of releasing ego and old structures, grounding yourself in the present and the day to day of life.

The key to bringing balance to any lifetime is that of understanding how and where your Birth Cards are operating in your life.

The Tower and the Chariot represent the two aspects of the gateway into a 16/7 lifetime. The Tower is ruled by Mars, placing focus on intense, warrior like energy – the energy that it takes to bring old structures down. (Note: The structures we are referring to here are ones that man has put in place himself – religious strictures, boundaries set by governmental law, and boundaries set by culture.) The Tower is an intensely active energy, expressing the need for things to happen in a very immediate manner. The Seeker does not have control over themselves or their environment here.

The Chariot is ruled by Cancer, placing the focus on home and family. The need for close personal relationships is shown here. It is important to pay attention to the day to day of life, make informed decision and take decisive actions. This is where the Seeker balances his or her emotional and intellectual selves. This is also where we see the union of our Higher Self and our Spiritual Self.

The Tower and the Chariot set the tone for this lifetime. The path that the individual walks is one that addresses the lessons of how they express control in their life, and how they bring about a sense of balance. The Tower with its Mars-like warrior energy blasts away at the structures in its environment, and insists on charging ahead quickly. The Chariot carries a gentler energy, seeking to balance life by maintaining control of impulses and actions. Change is still the result, but change that is brought about by informed decision making and actions.

A 16/7 (Tower/Chariot) individual empowers themselves by balancing the need to release non-functional social structures and establish new social structures (the Tower) with the areas of self-control, self-discipline and self-confidence (the Chariot).

The Tower and the Chariot work together to release the hold of the ego. The Tower brings abrupt change, blasting apart personal structures that are no longer serving the individual well. The Tower brings a spiritual awakening, as old beliefs and habits are released, and shadows faced.

The Chariot teaches self-control and self-discipline. Here we see a balancing of intellect and emotions, the development of self-confidence and a sense of personal direction. The ability to use your own skills and abilities to take you past all challenges into success

Soul Card #16 – The Tower

#16 The Tower

#16 – The Tower
If your tarot number adds up to 16, your personality is represented by the Tower.

Try as you might to keep the world structured and steady, it always seems to tumble down around you.  Just as you mortar that last brick in place, lightening strikes and you’re starting it all again.

Or maybe it’s you that’s shaking things up or acting as a lightening rod to the crazy world around you.

There are few people more able to withstand the storm than those born with the Tower as their symbol.   Your strength and fortitude is enormous, especially when the going gets tough.

Experience has taught you that nothing lasts forever, regardless of how permanent it might appear.  And anyway, sometimes the walls become more a prison than a shelter.

The Tower personality knows this well and lets change happen when it needs to, though sometimes they might need a little nudge.

The Chariot is the soul symbol for the Tower personality.
