MNC and SME
We might all know what MNC (Multi-National Company) and SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) are. However, when it comes to, "Which one suits me the best?", does each of us have an answer for that?
If you work at a MNC, people might think you are kinda cool especially when they have got a good impression about the brand you represent. If you work at a MNC, your office might be located in an expensive and convenient business area and a luxury building. If you work at a MNC, you might have well organized training system and welfare. If you work at a MNC, you might have more resources and networking opportunities with other country offices.
If you work at a SME, you might have more freedom and flexibility at work. If you work at a SME, you might get the chance to explore different functions or departments because the company has very limited manpower. If you work at a SME, you might be more involved in decision making and planning process due to the flat structure and get to learn a lot.
We might all know the facts of these advantages, and probably disadvantages as well. However, what should be the key factor to choose our own careers? "I wanna be an entrepreneur thus I work for SME." "I wanna people recognize my professional skills so I work for well-known MNC." "I wanna have more space to perform so I work for SME." "I wanna have more resources, budget for instance, to carry out my ideas so I work for MNC." ... Being on the third job, I still have no such a statement/reason as others do.
Is there any assessment tool to find out we are MNC persons or SME persons? What kind of people will suit MNC the best? Are there some people being recommended strongly that they better never go working at SME?
My friend said, what matters might not be MNC or SME, but what really makes us happy in working life.
Okay then, "What makes you happy about work?" What makes your work so special that you haven't quit your job? I recall my AIESEC years, what I truly love may be the great feeling of working with intelligent and passionate people. Followed by that is strong team spirits and global exposures. Looking at these elements, they all might be able to gain at both MNC and SME. If that is the case, how should I find out the best path for me? Is there actually something else matters to me but I haven't found out?
Maybe after 3 or 5 years, I would end up with finding out the best occupation for me is a housewife.
