已故布袋戲大師李天祿代表作《清宮三百年》中的「年羹堯」段落，10年前曾由陳錫煌、黃僑偉翻新重演，今年將再度重新製作，由歌仔戲名角王金櫻擔任現場演唱，並加入流行編曲、皮影戲等元素，推出《年羹堯傳奇》。這回擔任導演的黃僑偉表示：「編曲會跳脫原有的後場鑼鼓點，場面調度也有子母畫面概念，呈現新穎面貌。」
《清宮三百年》源自經典小說《清宮祕史》，由李天祿改編，在1948年推出後連演13年，轟動一時，在鄉間小鎮、地方廟口巡演，都吸引戲迷相約欣賞。
《年羹堯傳奇》描述驍勇善戰的清代名將年羹堯，出生時被父親元配丟入豬圈，所幸獲善心傭人所救，卻也因此和生母春花分離，十六年後才全家團圓。
陳錫煌表示，他特別為劇中的春花準備兩只尪仔，「也許觀眾在台下看不出年紀差別，但是擔任主演者，必須對掌中角色有所設定，一尊是年輕時的春花，另一尊是年老的春花，兩尊相差16歲，舞台上的時間流逝，就掌握在演師手中。」
陳錫煌也展現春花尪仔的腳部細節，正是清朝女性裹小腳的模樣，「觀眾不一定看得見這些細節，但是我不會因此而潦草，該有的元素都要有。」
黃僑偉表示，在春花翻山越嶺尋子的段落，很動人心弦，「劇組會安排皮影戲投影，加上燈光切換，作舞台上的分割畫面，讓敘述更豐富、視角更多元。」
