SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- With wet weather comes dangerous driving conditions.
If you hit a puddle or standing water while driving and start hydroplaning, don't panic.

Here's what you should do in case hydroplaning happens.

If this happens while you’re driving in the rain, it’s important to know how to recover safely.

  1. Do not make any sudden turns and do not touch the brakes.
  2. Ease off the gas. The vehicle will slow down on its own and regain traction.
  3. Ease on the brake to further slow the vehicle.
  4. Gently turn the steering wheel in the direction you want to go.
