Perfectly fine to stay a distance, wishing everyone well

Social distancing: What is it, and how it slows spread of coronavirus

Experts say "social distancing" is the best way to mitigate the impact of the new coronavirus pandemic that's now taking a hold of America. But what does it mean, and why is it effective?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines "social distancing" as the act of "remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet) from others when possible."

Here's how you can practice effective social distancing:

Stop shaking hands. Wave, nod or use other greetings that don't involve contact.

Avoid crowded areas. If possible, stay at least 6 feet away from others. That's because particles from coughs and sneezes can travel at least 6 feet, and some researchers believe the new coronavirus can remain airborne for up to three hours.

If you feel sick, self-quarantine. This means restricting your movement and separating yourself from other people.
