此曲於1963首由英國歌手Kenny Lynch錄唱發行，成績不差，在英國「唱片銷售」排行榜上獲得第14名。同年稍後，美國歌手Johnny Tillotson亦錄唱此曲，在告示牌「Adult Contemporary」榜獲得第4名，在德國，則是為冠軍曲。

60年代中期前，Johnny Tillotson還算是位紅歌手，共有9首歌打進排行榜前10名，其最知名的當屬1960發行的單曲《Poetry In Motion》。1965之後，想來是受到披頭合唱團領軍的「英倫入侵」的影響，一路就沉寂了下來。

從歌詞來看，這是首女方要結束雙方的關係，而男方仍深愛著對方的歌曲。的確，女方可阻止倆人間相關的任何行為，卻永遠不能阻止男方繼續愛她，感覺是用情至深。然而，換成在強調兩性平權的今日，像歌詞中男方再打電話給對方，恐被視為是「騷擾」行為，倘再有其他更激烈的糾纏行為，就成了所謂的「恐怖情人」了。

此曲當年在香港排行榜獲得第4名，連帶使得在台灣也頗流行，也是台長記憶中的西洋老歌。以下另貼香港歌手Joe Junior的版本，這位老兄當年曾組The Zoundcrackers樂隊，有幾首像是《Once Upon a Time》、《I Gotta Find Cupid》及後來的《Here's a Heart》等，在台灣都曾紅極一時。後成為藝人，參與過香港相當多的電影及電視劇的演出。
