此曲收錄在美國鄉村歌手Waylon Jennings於1994發行的專輯《Waymore's Blue ( Part II )》中。1996，Jennings對專輯中的幾首歌曲作出了說明，這首《Wild Ones》的背景是讓他想起70年代時，和Willie Nelson及妻子Jessi Colter如何的在Nashville奮戰，堅持誠實面對自己的音樂，最後終於憾動了長久以來對於非傳統鄉村音樂的不同等級的對待，而使得「outlaw country (非法鄉村)」佔有了一席之地。

一般咸信，「outlaw country」這個名詞的由來，應是出自於Waylon Jennings在1972發行的同名專輯的歌曲《Ladies Love Outlaws》( 作者為Lee Clayton )，又搭配了先前已發行的另首《Good Hearted Woman》，此兩首歌曲所傳達的音樂風格、形式，逐漸地發展出鄉村音樂的次主流，也就是「outlaw country」。

而真正奠定「非法鄉村」音樂地位的，是1976由Waylon Jennings、Willie Nelson、Jessi Colter及Tompall Glaser合出的專輯《Wanted！》，此專輯不僅在鄉村榜奪得冠軍，在流行榜也拿下第10名，唱片大賣超過100萬張並獲得「白金唱片」的認證。Jennings從當初為了作出自己風格的鄉村歌曲，受到了多數唱片公司的排擠、打壓，甚至一度還萌生退休之意，至此，終於可以揚眉吐氣了，Jennings應可說是「outlaw country」真正的先趨者。
