老歌亂談(851)Bobby's Girl
人生的際遇很奇妙，有時會在毫無預期之下走上另一條人生道路。像是常有聽說陪朋友參加試鏡或是什麼遴選，結果雀屏中選的卻是自己。1944年出生的Marcie Blane高中畢業後，某次應朋友的要求，替朋友寫的歌錄製試唱帶，不意在錄音室時被Seville唱片公司的星探發掘，而與她簽約。之後唱片公司找歌給她錄唱，即是此首《Bobby's Girl》。
此曲於1962發行後，一個月內即衝上排行榜的第3名 ( 前2名實在太強，分別為四季合唱團的《Big Girls Don't Cry》及貓王的《Return to Sender》)。歌曲開始時的口語及背景合音的那句「You're not a kid anymore」，也成為了當時青少年的流行語。
歌曲最有趣的是，問：當成長為少女後，最想成為的是什麼？歌曲的女主角竟然毫不猶豫的回說：想成為「Bobby的女友」。雖然自知希望不大，卻仍毫不掩飾的將少女思春的情懷表露無遺。「Bobby」應該只是個代名詞，而在5、60年代，叫Bobby的偶像歌手就有好幾位，像是Bobby Vee、Bobby Vinton、Bobby Darin等，不知這是否是寫歌者採用此名的原因？歌曲流行後，名為Bobby者當然是暗爽在心 ( 據說當時的確有妹會來主動接近 )，而名為Robert者亦開心不已，因Bobby是由Robert轉化而來 ( ←這對老中來說，實在是難以理解。)。
英國女歌手Susan Maughan亦在1962翻唱此曲，在英國單曲排行榜同樣獲得了第3名。隔年，Marcie Blane再推出一首《What Does A Girl Do》，只獲得排行榜第82名，也是她出現在排行榜的唯二歌曲。
