老歌亂談(750)Top of the World
前兩個月，法國通過了一項法律，禁止瘦得不健康如紙片人的模特兒參與走秀。此法應與2007年法國模特兒兼演員的伊莎貝爾卡籮 ( Isabelle Caro ) 曾拍下全裸相片，以警示世人「厭食症」的可怕有關，而伊莎貝爾卡籮本人則是在2010過世 ( 得年28歲 )。這讓我想起了木匠兄妹合唱團 ( The Carpenters ) 的妹妹Karen Carpenter，她也是因厭食症所造成的心臟衰竭在32歲時過世。

此首《Top of the World》收錄在The Carpenters 1972的專輯《A Song for You》中，原本除了在日本，並未計劃在其他地區發行單曲。未料到女歌手Lynn Anderson翻唱此曲且率先在美國發行，還差一點就拿下了鄉村榜的冠軍 ( 為第2名 )。此佳績對木匠兄妹來說，很難不想也來表現一番，而Karen Carpenter對之前的版本並不十分滿意，故和樂隊又重錄了一次。單曲於1973在英、美同時發行，真金不怕火鍊，正牌的果然還是略勝一籌，一舉奪下了流行榜的第一名 ，也成為了The Carpenters三首冠軍曲中的第二首。
此曲於1995被用為日劇《Miseinen》的開場主題曲。也出現在2010的電影《Shrek Forever After》 ( 台譯：史瑞克快樂4神仙 ) 及2012的電影《Dark Shadows》( 台譯：黑影家族 ) 中。
