Evangeline( 伊凡吉琳 )，顯然是位女性的名字。此名之所以被廣知，是由於Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ( 亨利‧沃兹沃思‧朗費羅 ) 在1847年所創作的一首敘事長詩，講述的是1755年阿卡迪亞人被驅離新斯科舍的故事 ( 起因於英、法爭奪殖民地，也是加拿大的一段歷史事件。) 在詩中，驅逐事件發生在Evangeline Bellefontaine ( 伊凡吉琳‧貝爾方丹 ) 和Gabriel Lajeunesse ( 加布里埃爾‧拉熱奈斯 ) 的新婚之日，兩人在混乱中失散，此後的歲月中都在苦苦地尋找對方。最後他們相遇時，Gabriel已是命在旦夕，而Evangeline在極度悲痛的震驚下也與世長辭，後倆人被合葬在一起。( 以上內容部份摘自網路 )
本首《Evangeline》是由The Band樂團的Robbie Robertson所創作，歌曲中的Evangeline和長詩的故事並無關連，但同樣都是敘說悽美的愛情故事 --- 在河岸的高處，雷雨交加的天候中，眼看著情郎隨所搭乘的河輪沉沒，自己最後終於也發瘋了。
此曲收錄在The Band樂團1978的告別演唱會《The Last Waltz》中，該版本為和Emmylou Harris的合唱，影音中的Emmylou看起來還十分年輕 ( 不到30歲 )。想來她頗喜歡此曲，1981所發行的專輯即名為《Evangeline》，專輯中的同名曲由Dolly Parton和Linda Ronstadt幫她合音。
Levon Helm為The Band的鼓手，甚具才華，會寫歌及常擔任主唱，是受敬重的音樂人，在上個影音中也是負責彈曼陀林。Sheryl Crow雖然有些忘詞，而仍然很棒。此影音時間約為2008，4年後 ( 2012 )，Levon Helm因癌症逝世，享年71，令人惋惜和懷念。
