這首《I Only Want to Be with You》對英國女歌手Dusty Springfield來說是意義重大，除了是她出道三年後單飛的第一張單曲，也算是她的成名曲。1963年，該曲獲得美國排行榜第12名，是繼The Beatles合唱團掀起所謂的英倫入侵 ( British Invasion )之後，第二位攻進美國排行榜的英國歌手，。

Dusty Springfield的歌唱事業生涯從50年代晚期一直延伸至90年代，她那特殊感性的聲音，使得她成為重要的藍眼靈魂歌手 ( blue-eyes Soul Singer )。從1963至1989年，她總共有6首歌曲進入美國排行榜前20名，以及16首登上英國排行榜。尤其是她早期出現的造型---染成金色的蓬鬆髮型、晚禮服以及濃妝，成為了60年代時髦摩登的指標。

此曲曾經多位歌手翻唱，也曾多次入榜。而英國樂團The Bay City Rollers在1976年的版本在美國同樣是獲得第12名，卻是迄今在商業銷售上最成功的。但許多喜愛Dusty Springfield的粉絲們可不這麼覺得，認為Rollers主要只是吸引了眾多的青少女罷了。甚至譏諷的說：Rollers能像Dusty Springfield一樣，進入「搖滾名人堂」嗎？

這首歌說的是一位女孩終於找到了她的夢中情人，至少她是這麼的認為，然後就緊跟著不放了。我們大多數人不也都是如此嗎？哈哈哈！
