老歌亂談(178)Heaven Knows
貼歌以來，大家可能覺得隨便就是冠軍歌曲，沒什麼稀奇。而實情不然，能擠進榜或是前40名即已屬不易，更遑論是前10名甚或是冠軍曲了。像美國樂團The Grass Roots，在1966至1975之間，發行的單曲共進榜21次 ( 前40名有8次，前20名3次，前10名3次 )，卻是連一首冠軍歌曲都沒有。不過唱片的銷售成績還不差，全世界賣出超過二千萬張，其中有兩張專輯及一張單曲因而獲得了金唱片。
這首1969的《Heaven Knows》雖然在告示牌只得到第24名(錢櫃為13名)，卻為當年的熱門曲。反而是前一年成績較好的《Midnight Confessions》(第5名)，我則完全沒有印象。至於他們另一首較為出名的《Let's Live for Today》，已在亂談100 介紹過了。
人生宛如走馬燈，對The Grass Roots來說，團員已不知更迭了幾輪 ( 有近50人)，卻似乎還捨不得這塊團名招牌，至今仍在演唱。

我查了資料 1967 Grass Roots ~Let's Live for Today~ 前有來者: Frank & Nancy Sinatra, This is My Song, Penny Lane, There's Kind of Hush, Strawberry Fields Forever, Supremes, Tommy James, Windy, Mamas & Papas, Four Tops, Simon & Garfunkel.......緊接着两首大曲 San Francisco, All You Need is Love, Don't sleep in Subway, You only Live Twice.....其它 Rolling Stone, Tom Jones, Engelbert, Lulu, Steve Wonder, Association, Fifth Dimension, Doors, Stevie Wonder....四方褚侯均蓄勢待發, 春秋戰國, 實屬不易!
不過，歌手只要真正有實力，曲風又能符合或引領當代風潮，再加一些包裝和宣傳促銷，應該遲早還是會大放異彩的。 2013-10-22 06:46:01
